Honda has slashed the price of its e:Ny1 electric SUV by £5,000 to broaden its appeal.

Prices for the Honda e:Ny1 have just been cut by £5,000 in order to tempt more buyers towards going electric. Honda’s only EV, an alternative to the Hyundai Kona Electric, will now start from £39,995, down from £44,995.

That may be a pretty hefty price adjustment, however it still makes the e:Ny1 around £5,000 more expensive than the Kona Electric, and it’s a good few thousand pounds more than a Peugeot E-2008. You could also have a Skoda Enyaq for similar money, and that car offers considerably more interior space.

Your £39,995 gets you the Elegance trim level, which comes pretty well-equipped as standard. All cars get a 15.1-inch infotainment system, heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, a reversing camera and a digital driver’s display.

If you fancy the Advance version you’ll have to part with £42,195. For this you gain luxuries such as a panoramic glass roof, a power operated tailgate, a 360-degree camera and Honda’s Parking Pilot system which can navigate tight parking spaces automatically.

The Honda e:Ny1 may not be the best value EV, even with this price cut, and it doesn’t have the biggest boot either, but it makes up for this with plenty of rear seat space and a decent amount of tech. It’s also pretty comfortable on the move.
